A native of Dallas, Texas, Alexis Shambley moved to Cincinnati in 2014 to pursue her Bachelor of Music at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (class of 2018). In 2020 she earned her Masters degree in violin performance as a Diversity Fellow with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra studying under Dr. Won-Bin Yim and former CSO Concertmaster Timothy Lees.
Alexis has performed with several orchestras including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra & Pops, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera, and Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. She currently performs as a member of the Blue Ash Montgomery Symphony Orchestra and Queen City Opera.
Alexis is a Suzuki certified violin instructor with teaching experience at all ages and abilities. Previous teaching engagements include serving as a Strings Clinician for Cincinnati Public Schools, Strings Teacher for the Ben Carlson-Berne Scholarship Fund, and as a Teaching Artist at MYCincinnati, an El Sistema inspired music program in Price Hill.
Currently, Alexis works in marketing at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Her extensive background in violin performance equips her with the knowledge, perspective, and passion to be effective in the field. Through her administrative work, Alexis hopes to play an active role in moving orchestras towards a more inclusive, accessible, and relevant future.
As a woman of color, Alexis is committed to diversifying the field of classical music through performing, teaching, and advocating for music education in Black and Latino communities.
In her free time, Alexis enjoys cooking a new recipe every week, going to local parks, and playing games on her Nintendo Switch.
