Rose Claire Fecteau Brown was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has been playing violin nearly all of her life. She currently performs as a second violinist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and also frequently plays with the Detroit Symphony. Rose has been a member of several regional orchestras and has performed with chamber ensembles and orchestras in Argentina, Brazil, Quebec, South Korea, and around the United States at venues from the Ark in Ann Arbor to Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Rose earned violin performance degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (BM) and the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater, and Dance (MM). She has played in masterclasses for great musicians including Clara-Yumi Jang, Joshua Bell, Rachel Barton Pine, and Midori, and she now teaches a small studio of violin students.
When not with her violin, Rose enjoys running, knitting, and drinking coffee. She will always loveBrahms and Beethoven, but Rose has a strong interest in contributing to greater exposure ofnew ideas, composers, and performers, and is excited to do that as part of New Downbeat.
